“I am among those who think that science has great beauty. A scientist in his laboratory is not only a technician: he is also a child placed before natural phenomenon which impresses him like a fairy tale” ------- Marie Curie.
Science holistically has been a great fascination for me since my childhood and teenage days, and probably what intrigued me with this passion for science was first reading a lot of popular science articles and magazines, which created an irresistible urge in me to learn science. Secondly, I used to read articles on the lives of scientists, fascinating about their sacrifices made merely for a single purpose, doing science. This has been my biggest motivation to choose my career in the glorious path of knowledge. In the 10th standard itself, I had my first course in Chemistry when it was introduced along with physics and mathematics as one of my core courses. During my higher secondary education, I came to know about the enormity of this subject and happened to have excellent exposure to the charming features of this subject. My love for Chemistry began from there. I found myself excited when I did various practical experiments, and it motivated me to become an experimental chemist. The study of Chemistry is always fascinating for me. This love led me to pursue studies and investigation on that field and hoping one day to continue my carrier as a Scientist. I hope to be able to use my knowledge of chemistry in research with my keen interest.
I completed my UG studies under Vidyasagar University with a First-Class degree. From there, the interest in the field of organic chemistry had been grown up. The story of organic chemistry hides in the fact of bond breaking and bond making in a molecule. I have always been passionate about solving various problems in Organic Chemistry. In 2018, I joined IISER Kolkata as an Integrated PhD Student. I completed my two years of master’s coursework with a CGPA of 9.46. During that time, I acquired a broad and brief knowledge of research activities. IISER Kolkata gave me a lovely exposer to worldwide research by doing various seminar events and symposiums. During this time, I got chances to listen to several scientists worldwide.
In 2019, I joined in Organic Synthesis & Catalysis Lab, IISER Kolkata, under the supervision of Dr. Biplab Maji. Now i'm working on photo-catalysis and my aim is to develop sustainable approaches for the formation of various C-C or C-X (heteroatom) bond.
